Quilt Revival
Updated patterns from the '30's
By Nancy Mahoney
With the need to "use it up and make it do" during
the Great Depression, quilting exploded in popularity. New patterns
were abundant as creativity flourished. Newspapers were a popular
source of patterns, and thrifty quilting clipped and saved patterns
in shoeboxes and scrapbooks. Quilt designer Nancy Mahoney was
lucky enough to find such a scrapbook, and she shares her favorite
patterns-along with simplified sewing techniques-in this rare
collection,
· Choose from 11 scrappy quilt patterns including "Chinese
Checkers," "Patriotic Star," and "Treasure
Chest"
· Capture the cheerful colors reminiscent of the period
with designs that feature '30s reproduction fabrics
· Get that vintage look in less time with quick cutting
and piecing methods
